Donning our gay apparel: Krave’s Snow Ball 2010

Krave never ceases to amaze with their creative themed parties. The second annual Snow Ball was no exception.

Santa must have laid off the cookies and milk this year—his ripped, washboard abs were on full display Saturday night at Krave. The hunky Claus was just one of several wintry attractions at the alternative dance club’s second annual Snow Ball, which doubled as a charity toy drive.

Drawing a crowd as big as—if not bigger than—those at the establishment’s infamous foam parties is no small feat, but this holiday party more than delivered. Just like at Macy’s, sexy St. Nick was available for lap-seated photo ops, and the eye candy also included 16 of his go-go-dancing elves—boys and girls of both naughty and nice varieties. Many of them captivated the club with their killer moves (though to keep pace with the other fiercely skilled dancers, the muscled-up straight dudes should consider watching a Beyoncé video or two).

The venue was decked to the nines with oversized snowflakes and ornaments, and an adorned Christmas tree stood stage left. Random “snowfalls” occurred throughout the night, raining confetti onto the bumpin’ dance floor. Even Frosty the Snowman made an onstage cameo, slapping some go-go ass and “thumpety-thump-thump”-ing his snow balls the entire time.

World-renowned DJ Irene returned to Sin City to spin for Krave's second annual Snow Ball.

As for the musical stylings, resident DJ Morningstar had the crowd on the floor early, warming up the space until a packed house welcomed world-renowned DJ Irene.

With the dance floor brimming, the energy in the club was purely electric. Even the straight, conservative, married couple who tagged along with me were ravin’ and ragin’. The gays really do know how to throw a kickass party, and Krave does it almost weekly—past events include “Going Deep” (an underwater-adventure-themed party) and the biannual Moulin Rouge party.

Even if you don’t fit into the rainbow of the LGBT spectrum, Krave will welcome you with a nightlife experience hard to find elsewhere on the Boulevard. Just have an open mind, and be willing to have a fabulous time.
