Hey there, Delilah!

From her spot, high above the Revolver dance floor, Delilah, the six foot-long armadillo-shaped disco ball, sees all. After many years of silent service to Texas Station’s South Padre Room (neé the Armadillo Lounge), Delilah is finally breaking that silence—but not her 2,800 mirrors—in an exclusive interview with the Weekly’s Xania Woodman. Saucy Delilah talks country-crossover and spills the beans about what makes her new home, Revolver Saloon & Dance Hall, so very hot.

Hey Delilah, why do you think country is so hot right now?

I think it’s because more people can relate to ‘new country.’ Country is no longer just the old honky-tonk music. It has transformed into songs about relationships, cheating, poker, rock ‘n’ roll, and relaxing beach-side. It’s just fun music.

What artists would you describe as “country crossover”?

You have top country artists topping the pop charts: Carrie Underwood, Taylor Swift, Brad Paisley, Lady Antebellum, and Keith Urban. I hear them on Top 40 country stations all the time here in Vegas.

Who are you listening to right now? Where might this phenomena take us?

I’m a huge fan of Carrie Underwood, Kenny Chesney and Brad Paisley. I think they are young and innovative and are changing country music forever. I won’t be surprised if we hear a Carrie Underwood featuring Lil’ Wayne and Eminem song soon!

Is Vegas ready for a country-crossover nightclub??

For sure! [Vegas now has] Garth Brooks as a resident, the Hard Rock is booking country shows, and almost every radio station plays country music. Vegas has always been the cutting-edge city when it comes to nightlife and entertainment… so it’s just natural that Vegas does the same in the country world.

Some folks look so confident on the floor. What is the best way for a newbie to learn all that fancy footwork?

You should see some of the dancers I see here every night! I have a few people that mix Michael Jackson’s style of dancing with The Electric Slide. It’s amazing. Come learn the dances for free on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday nights from 8:30-9:30 p.m.

What would you say were a few of Revolver’s best features and amenities?

Well, besides me of course, we have a badass bull with free bull-rides for ladies. The sexy look of the place is beyond any country bar I’ve ever been to: huge murals, drapes, a beautiful raised VIP section, and lots of seats so you can dance or just hang out and grab a beer.

Speaking of, what that you’re drinkin’ there?

Oh, I’m all about the Buck All Night Cocktail—Red Bull and Belvedere. That keeps me spinning over that dance floor all night.

And what should we be drinkin’?

You have to try the Beergarita. I know it sounds crazy but it is delicious. Also give the Son of a Peach Lemonade a shot.

What about Revolver would easily appeal to a mainstream club audience?

Our staff! I’m a little jealous of the sexy outfits they wear. Although, I guess technically I’m not wearing any clothes…

Indeed, you are not... What features still appeal to the classic country-loving audience?

DJ Sinner does an amazing job of mixing new country with old country, and then adding rock/pop to that. You can two-step to Carrie Underwood, line-dance to the "Cupid Shuffle," and then boogie down to Black Eyed Peas… all in the same club!

Any upcoming events?

Ladies Night on Wednesday is my favorite—$1 cover and $1 drinks for ladies all night long.

So, you got a beau, Delilah?

No, but I think our bull has been eyeing me…

And is it true what they say about armadillos…?

NO! I always wait for the fourth date.
