SEE

Dexter A serial killer with daddy issues who’s raising a family while working for the police. The most darkly funny show on TV, anchored by the Emmy-worthy Michael C. Hall. Sundays, 9 p.m., Showtime.

The Town Ben Affleck’s comeback is complete. He directs and stars in a lean, effective crime thriller, with enough character detail and sense of place to fill in any plot deficiencies. Now playing citywide.

Fringe The sci-fi action series ended its second season with a bang, swapping out one lead character with her evil doppelganger and revealing an entire alternate universe. How will it top that? Thursdays, 9 p.m., Fox.

GO

Sleepy Sun & White Hills White Hills frontman Dave W is the Ronnie James Dio of psych-rock—compact, menacing and musically memorable. Sleepy Sun better bring its A game. With Twin Brother, September 24, 9 p.m., $8-$10, Beauty Bar.

Classical freeness Talented violinist Wei-Wei Le performs Beethoven, Prokofiev, Higdon and Schoenfield with pianist Yin Zheng Saturday at UNLV’s Beam Music Center, then four nights later the kickin’ chamber ensemble NOMAD (Nevada Organization of Musicians With Artistic Daring) plays Brahms in the same room—all of it free of charge. September 25 & 29, 7:30 p.m.

World Series of Comedy Comics do battle in this multi-day tournament, with audience votes and national bookings on the line. Don’t be alarmed if things get ugly; losing is no laughing matter. September 23-25, 7 & 9 p.m., $30-$45, Alexis Park.

DRINK

Oktoberfesting Confusing as it might seem, most of Oktoberfest actually takes place in September, which means you should be holding a stein right now. Share one with Mac King, who hosts a celebrity keg tapping at Hofbrauhaus. September 24, 7 p.m.

VISIT

cutethingsfallingasleep.org Things that make you go, “Awwwww.” It’s amazing how a dose of adorable brightens the day. Sheep, kittens, penguins and more, all recorded nodding off. Our fave? Sleepy hamster 2, whose giant balls keep him from full slumber.
