The Real Mob Wives of Las Vegas
January 3, 7 p.m., free.
Clark County Library, 1401 E. Flamingo Road, 507-3458

The Mob is a cottage industry. Movies about mobsters are some of the most successful, critically-praised films in history. Las Vegas will soon have two museums on the subject. There seems to be no end to our capacity for Mob lore. And this week, the Clark County Library serves up another fascinating dose as part of its Mob Month Discussion Series. Three women either directly or indirectly linked to organized crime are scheduled to speak: Lisa Caserta, the wife of Henry Hill, whose life was the inspiration for Goodfellas; Cynthia Duncan, the granddaughter of legendary mobster Meyer Lansky; and Wendy Mazaros, co-author of the book Vegas Rag Doll (with Las Vegas Sun writer Joe Schoenmann), detailing her marriage to Mob hitman Tom Hanley. This is history with a serious edge.
