Burlesque performers to tease you at El Cortez

Image

The world’s greatest strip-tease artists converge every June in Las Vegas for the Burlesque Hall of Fame Weekend. They bump and grind, sharing the spotlight with local burlesque stars and legends, then head back home. It’s a huge, fanciful draw, a colorful event of boas and lipstick that comes with original and imaginative acts, art exhibits, drawing classes and meet-and-greets—an exciting time and a big fundraiser for the local Burlesque Hall of Fame Museum. But what about the rest of the year? Aside from Cha Cha Velour’s monthly burlesque show at Boomers Bar, it’s slim pickings around town, despite the burlesque dancers that abound here. That may change soon, says Laura Herbert, board president of the Burlesque Hall of Fame.
