Teddybears, the Swedish outfit known for donning bear masks while performing onstage—oh, and for mashing electronica, punk, reggae, rap, rock and pop (in other words, pretty much everything)—ended a stint at Bond at the Cosmopolitan with a slammin’ set Saturday night that turned the Strip entrance into a nightclub. Patrons at the Henry cafe less than 50 feet away looked less than enthused at the booming music while dining.

Congratulations to Mark Kiyojima of Progressive Bar Las Vegas and Red Rock Resort and Jason Hughes of Chandelier bar at the Cosmopolitan, who placed first and second, respectively, in the 2011 42 Below Cocktail World Cup at Gold Diggers Lounge at the Golden Nugget on Monday night. Next up: the U.S. finals in New York, then the world finals in New Zealand (home of 42 Below vodka). Darby Kelly of the Wynn (one of the top two Las Vegas finishers last year), Ray Srp of Savile Row and I served as the judges. Kudos also to the following who were part of Monday’s Elite Eight: Emilio Tiburcio, Dustin Drankiewicz, Steve Dorsey, Steve Hahn, Roger Gross and Chris Hopkins. —Don Chareunsy

Piranha recently launched Notorious Wednesdays, the nightclub’s newest hump-day party. Treat your ears (and dancing feet) to a mix of electro, house, nu disco, indie and ’80s, spun by resident DJ Aurajin. Show a college ID to receive 2-for-1 Smirnoff cocktails, or enjoy $3 wells and beers all night. Oh, and ’80s attire is encouraged—time to break out those parachute pants!

Fancy yourself a Texas Rangers fan? Steer clear of Moon Nightclub on January 29. Pitcher Sergio Romo of the World Series champion San Francisco Giants hosts his team’s Vegas victory celebration, with ERock, the Giants’ DJ, breakin’ up the beats. —Mark Adams
