Nightlife news & notes: The Swingers Club, a new distillery and more

Does Tiesto have his own chapstick? The Captains of Industry do!

There’s a swingers club coming to Downtown, but not the kind where wife-swappers go to spice up their sex lives. The Plaza’s new Swingers Club bar, slated to soft-open August 24, will feature Vegas staples like dueling pianos, late-night DJs, a celebrity backer (Anthony Cools) and ... mini golf? Yup, the new venue will have nine Vegas-themed holes ready for guests 11 a.m.-4 a.m. seven days a week with glow-in-the-dark disco golf from 2-4 a.m. Sh-wing! Read more about it here.

Congrats are in order to the Joint, recently named the No. 1 Hottest Club in America by Billboard magazine. The current incarnation of the venue, which opened in 2009, won the honor based on box office data, beating out places like Washington, D.C.’s 9:30 Club and LA’s Club Nokia. We’re tempted to say we told you so: Weekly gave the Joint Best Sightlines in the 2010 Vegas’ Best Awards and our readers voted it Best Music Venue in 2011.

Soon, locals will be able to sip on artisanal vodkas, whiskeys and gins made right here in Henderson. George Racz, the founder of the Las Vegas Distillery, has been working for months to get his business up and running, and on July 22 he’ll finally have reason to celebrate. Starting at 11:30 a.m., the distillery will serve up tastings of his new spirits at 7330 Eastgate Road #100, including his own special creation—rumskey, a liquor that’s exactly what it sounds like.

Move aside, Burt and your bees. Skam Artist DJs StoneRokk and Graham Funke, who partner under the name The Captains of Industry, have made a bold, exciting, safety-conscious choice in promotional shwag: The Captstick, their own branded chapstick. It’s probably not organic and we’re pretty sure the boys don’t have beehives, but hey, when was the last time Burt provided you with sweet tunes? Catch the Captains this Sunday at Marquee Dayclub.
