First the bad news: Eddie D’s, the home of arguably the best sandwiches in town, is no longer at Cheyenne and Durango. Now the good news: It relocated south—where a slew of new customers have already found it. And don’t worry, version 2.0, which opened June 3, still comes with a side order of owner Eddie DiBiase, reason enough to visit in and of himself. (If you tell him you’re watching what you’re eating, he’ll tell you to eat in front of a mirror.) These are some of the Weekly crew’s favorite sandwiches in town: the Pauly Walnuts (capicola, Genoa salami, sharp provolone), the Dante (prosciutto, mozzarella, sweet roasted peppers) and the Bada Boom (chicken cutlet with home-style marinara), all on Eddie D’s signature bread. Alas, the dessert menu is gone, but ask Eddie and he’ll escort you personally next door to the Drago Sisters Bakery—a one-two punch if there ever was one.
