Alas, Las Vegas pool season spans a mere eight months. Fortunately for partiers and EDM fans, as the temperatures slip, Surrender nightclub won’t miss a thump. The venue is evolving for the chill months ahead while continuing to book all-star resident DJs.

So, how does a largely outdoor, pool-oriented club survive the winter? With a weather-controlled island, of course! During the week before Halloween, Surrender will spawn a landmass atop the pool popularized by Encore Beach Club. But don’t get delusions of Dubai. It’s one large platform encapsulated by a futuristic plastic dome that will protect patrons from cold winter elements and the dormant pool below.

The weather-resistant structure accommodates additional VIP tables and provides a bridge to the venue’s gaming area. Gaming will be enclosed this year—part of the dome’s expansion from its predecessor last winter. The outer areas of the pool present a visual backdrop for the party inside and heated bungalows let bottle-poppers enjoy a semi-private party. The covered patio at Switch will also receive a dome-with-doors makeover, creating an intimate, wind-proof lounge alternative to the neighboring nightclub.

Inside Surrender, the DJ booth will gain prominence with a move to the front wall and a custom floor-to-ceiling, $400,000 LED component. Surrender’s upgraded video programming will complement the existing lighting, both produced in-house by visual visionary Jonathan Shecter. The center VIP tables will be removed, expanding the dancefloor and creating sight lines between the venue’s entrance, dancefloor, island-dome, and gaming. The other VIP tables, go-go dancers and that 90-foot metallic snake remain unchanged.

As for the music, Bryan Bass, executive director of marketing for Las Vegas Nightlife Group, explains: “From summer to winter, there will be no drop-off in the talent that we’re bringing and the types of events we’re doing. We’re really pushing the programming through winter.”

The result? Twenty-five thousand square feet of enclosed electronic euphoria. Don’t surrender a night to inclement weather. Party like the devil—no matter what’s happening outside.
