Many Hawaiians affectionately refer to Las Vegas as the “ninth island,” and this weekend you can find culture from the other eight at the Silverton’s Pure Aloha Festival, a celebration of Hawaiian heritage.

The Details

Pure Aloha Festival
October 6-9, times vary, $5-$7, additional cost for concert tickets.
The Silverton, 263-7777

The multifaceted extravaganza, in its sixth year, spans four days and includes all kinds of island entertainment. Both cultural performances and concerts are planned—Nesian N.I.N.E. and The Green take the stage Friday, with Jesse & Ruby and Patrick Palomo and Friends supplying their sounds on Saturday.

While enjoying the shows, attendees can chow down on some authentic Hawaiian fare or purchase island crafts and merchandise. A carnival with midway rides completes the festive event. Island time starts Thursday. And who knows, maybe you’ll get lei-d!
