Pondering Paula Poundstone

The Details

Paula Poundstone
August 17 and 18, 8 p.m., $22-$44.
Orleans Showroom, 365-7075.

If you’re 23 years old and you picked up the Weekly to check out the club ads but somehow wound up here in the Calendar section reading this paragraph, let me tell you about woman you’re looking at. The one in the tie. Her name’s Paula Poundstone. Stand-up comedian. Big in the ’80s. But she’s even funnier today. You only haven’t heard of her because she hangs out with the NPR crowd on shows like A Prairie Home Companion and Wait Wait … Don’t Tell Me! So if you’ve got no plans for the weekend and you don’t feel like clubbing, and you don’t want to see Dark Knight Rises for a fourth time, head to the Orleans and check out one of Comedy Central’s Greatest Stand-Ups of All Time. Then bowl.
