There’s a lot of change sweeping through Holsteins, the second-floor burger and booze spot at the Cosmopolitan, and it’s not just on the menu. It’s all over the walls.
The Details
- Holsteins Art Throwdown
- March 26, 8 p.m.-2 a.m. The Cosmopolitan, 698-7940.
The restaurant’s new artwork—edgy-urban bovine might describe it?—comes compliments of local artist Juan Muniz with a little help from designers Kids in the Attic. The best time to check out the new digs is March 26, when Muniz will be painting live and exhibiting and selling original work, accompanied by DJ Wizdumb.
While you’re getting some tasty culture, check out some of the new burgers on the menu: March Madness is here and so is the Bracket Burger, with American cheese, fried egg, firecracker onions, lettuce, avocado, tomato, spicy mustard and barbecue sauce. The Nom Nom kobe burger is a little simplified, with cheddar, potato chips and Thousand Island. The Billionaire Burger, more kobe beef with foie gras, truffle mayo and port onion marmalade, might be a bargain at $28, if it tastes as rich as its name. Or you can spend less for the dangerously flavored El Machete ($16), with roasted Anaheim chiles, borracho onions, pepper jack cheese and spicy aioli.
