Honestly, I’m surprised this didn’t happen sooner. Joining the ranks of chefs and fashion designers are DJs, the latest profession to get a reality show competition promising fame and at least temporary fortune. Master of the Mix is scheduled to air on VH1 in 2013 and is currently casting DJs ready to square off in mixing battles, music knowledge and party-rockin’ ability. Interested? Go to gtmcentral.com/motm then hit the open casting call at Lady Silvia on October 16 from noon-8 p.m.
File this under fun party facts: Before there was Dom Pérignon the luxury champagne, there was Dom Pérignon the Benedictine monk and winemaker who pioneered some techniques in sparkling wine. And this Saturday at the Bank, there will be Dom Pérignon the David Lynch edition, as in special bottles of the bubbly and its rose counterpart designed by the renowned filmmaker and artist. Dom celebrates the launch at the Bellagio club, the perfect place to show off your new knowledge about its Benedictine past.
Also this Saturday, new Miracle Mile venue DB’s Pong & Pool celebrates its grand opening. The pool hall and sports bar—from the creators of Blondie’s—boasts two floors of games and TVs, along with 10 beers on tap, a menu of bar food staples, a stage and a daily 5-8 p.m. happy hour with $20 all-you-can-drink PBR and wells. The bar will hold beer pong tourneys on weekends, and this Saturday, DB’s will show the UFC fights. So bring $20 and watch the boys battle in Brazil.
