Proving that they’re always looking for ways to out-awesome past escapades, the cast of Absinthe celebrated their 1,000th show last Thursday, with a zombie-themed bash at Pure featuring a two-tiered cake and makeup worthy of The Walking Dead. Cast member Penny Pibbets dove straight into the cake and took a bite. Good thing it wasn’t brain-flavored.

XS (happy fourth!) and Encore Beach Club will be the new hosts of trance trio Above & Beyond’s Group Therapy residency. The group promises a full-production club show that “captures the relationship between us, our music and our fans, and the magic that happens when those three things interact.” You can catch your first Group Therapy sessions May 17 at XS and May 18 at EBC.

It’s the home stretch for Hakkasan, which opens up this month at the MGM Grand, and they’ve finalized their opening performances: Deadmau5 will spin the club’s Preview Weekend opening night on April 18, with Hardwell, Bingo Players and Tommy Trash each headlining a night over the weekend. Hakkasan’s Grand Opening kicks off a week later on April 25 with Steve Aoki’s new Neon Future party, followed up by Deadmau5, Calvin Harris and Laidback Luke on consecutive nights. Tickets are on sale now. And if you like to grub before the club, Hakkasan Restaurant opens May 3, but they’re taking rezzies starting April 10.

Hakkasan’s damper sister venue, Wet Republic, started its season last Saturday with Tommy Trash’s Vegas daylife debut. Along with Tommy, the pool club will be sharing many of its resident DJs with Hakkasan. Highlights include the grand-opening weekend lineup: Hardwell and Deadmau5 on April 20 and 21, respectively, and Steve Aoki’s Splash Vegas on April 28.
