The guac is back: Dos Caminos opens in Summerlin

It was pink when it was Agave. Now the interior at Dos Caminos is low-key but still festive.

The Details

Dos Caminos
10820 W. Charleston Blvd., 462-8800.
Monday-Friday, 4 p.m.-11 p.m.; Saturday & Sunday, 10 a.m.-midnight.

The Mexican food at Dos Caminos was too reliable to be gone forever. After nearly four years at Palazzo it closed in 2011, but now it’s back at a much more convenient location. The airy, mostly pink Summerlin cantina formerly known as Agave is its new home, and it’s not pink anymore. Fine by us.

The best parts of Dos Caminos’ menu have returned, namely the peerless spicy guacamole—always made to order but not tableside, also fine by us—as well as roasted plantain empanadas ($7.50) and build-your-own, fajita-style cazuela plates anchored by tasty stuff like roasted chicken ($14.95) and beef short ribs ($17.50). New dishes? The patty meltish Don Francisco burger ($10.50) has pepper jack cheese, caramelized onions and mushrooms plus roasted chilies. And enchiladas have been improved, particularly those with smoked brisket ($17.25) and chicken in mole poblano and tomatillo sauces ($15.50).

Everything here seems supremely filling, but it’s possible I just ate too much guac. Whatever. Welcome back.
