As We See It

Now buried in the desert: a board game you’ll never play

The Nevada desert is full of secrets, and now you can add this doozy: a board game meant to be played 2,700 years in the future.

Jason Rohrer, an award-winning game designer, developed “A Game for Someone” for the Game Developer’s Conference in San Francisco (although no one has seen it but him). He buried the pieces and board (made of titanium, no less) along with the rules in a metal tube somewhere in Nevada. He estimates it will take 2,700 years to find, adding, “I wanted to make a game that is not for right now, that I will never play and nobody living now would ever play.”

For those planning on looking, be careful—you start digging holes in our desert, you never know what—or who—you might find.
