Jubilee! Auditions and Chippendales Auditions | January 2013
Auditions are tough. I had the opportunity to photograph two this past week. Jubilee!, the long-running showgirl spectacular at Bally’s, holds auditions every six months for new strutting showgirls and twirling dancers. Chippendales, the classic male revue at the Rio, was holding auditions for the Chippendales World Tour. While the shows are obviously different, the auditions were very similar: nervous energy, sweat and fit bodies shown off in skimpy dance wear. And though it was mostly about looking beautiful and showcasing dance skills, the lesson I gleaned was this: If you can’t make it, fake it, and wow them with your personality.
