Portofino is the name of an Italian fishing village, and it’s also a remarkable, yet well-hidden, Italian restaurant tucked away toward the back of the Mirage casino floor. In the space formerly housing Onda, chef Michael LaPlaca has recently revamped the traditional Italian menu with his own modern riff on the cuisine—even inventing pasta styles when the ones he wanted weren’t readily available.
