      Grandma Daisy's

I can’t go to Boulder City without stopping at this old-time confectionary for a milkshake and Oreo bark. Specializing in homemade chocolates and candies, the best part about Grandma Daisy’s is sampling the sweets, then grabbing a giant cone or malt (scooped with love by Grams, if you’re lucky). With 13 flavors of ice cream to choose from, like birthday cake and “Scooper Hero,” plus mix-ins like Butterfinger, Heath and M&M's, every combo is a great one. Want mint chocolate chip in your root beer float? Grandma Daisy ain’t gonna judge. 530 Nevada Hwy., Boulder City, 702-294-6639.

      Marash Turkish Ice Cream

You can get a regular ice cream cone anytime. Want an adventure? Get thee to Marash—now. The tiny stand is hard to find, but once you stumble upon it chances are a cheerful Turkish man named Alihan will be serving up the traditional Eastern European treat (called dondurma in Turkey). Unlike other frozen desserts, it's made with salep, an orchid flour that creates the signature chewy texture. If you have to wait for your cone, don’t worry; this ice cream comes with a jig … and maybe a comedy routine. Grand Bazaar Shops, 702-736-4988.

      Gelato Messina

When this Australian shop debuted its first U.S. store back in March, our taste buds perked up just looking at the menu. Its cake creations like the Black Forest and Dr. Evil’s Magic Mushroom are true works of art—but ease into the experience with Messina’s 40 fresh gelato flavors, sorbets and five weekly specials (check Facebook). Whether you’re in an apple pie, Italian nougat, pear and rhubarb, panna cotta and fig jam or pistachio (made with real Sicilian pistachios, not that green paste) kind of mood, there really is a flavor for every discerning palate. Downtown Summerlin, 702-848-1688.

      Snowflake Shavery

Don’t know what shaved snow is? Imagine heaven melting in your mouth, in flavors like green tea, black sesame and the summer go-to, cantaloupe. Called baobing in China and chhoah-peng in Taiwan, the creamy, icy “ribbons” are shaved off a flavored block, then loaded with toppings like red beans, fruit or candy. For extra richness, go with the Crunchy Cookie, stacked with cookie butter snow, hunks of graham cracker and chocolate sauce—or go rogue and swap chocolate for sweetened condensed milk. Mmmm. 5020 Spring Mountain Road, 702-220-7050.

      Cream

Not much can beat a classic like cookies and milk … unless of course, it’s cookies and ice cream. Imported from Berkeley, California, this Downtown Summerlin chill spot gives the ice cream sandwich one heck of an upgrade. Choose from freshly baked cookie flavors like red velvet, double chocolate chip, peanut butter, snickerdoodle and turtle, pick your ice cream (hellooo peanut butter twist) and then pick your toppings: sprinkles, chocolate sauce—even Nutella. Vegan? They’ve got you covered with dairy-free cookies and soy creams. And don't forget the ice cream taco. Downtown Summerlin, 702-272-0072.
