Don’t be a Scrooge and skip this holiday tradition. UNLV updates Charles Dickens’ classic tale with a new adaptation by Barbara Field and contemporary themes. Expect a diverse cast, a take on immigration and even mariachi music. Actor Wesley Mann (Back to the Future Part II) stars as the miserly Ebenezer whose life changes after seeing visions of Christmas past, present and future. “Although it was written 174 years ago, it really is a comment on where we are as a culture and a society right now,” director Chris Edwards says in a promotional video. “It’s a story of finding empathy, finding redemption.”
