A Prive affair

Keep it in the family

There's no denying that the Cirque du Soleil family is a close-knit community. With five Vegas-based shows, that's a lot of acrobats, artists, dancers and staff to keep tabs on. But founder Guy Laliberté loves the nightlife and he certainly loves to boogie—we've seen it with our own eyes! With the recent opening of the Revolution Lounge at the Mirage, Cirque du Soleil dubbed Mondays "Family Night" at the interactive lounge with Mystere's own makeup technician DJ Sarah Fab as resident, spinning electro house. There is no cover charge to join Sara and the Family Cirque.

Top Dogs

Not that it needs to be argued anymore, but Vegas has once again proven its national dominance in the nightclub industry, leading with 14 venues on the list of the recently released Nightclub & Bar magazine's 2007 Editors' Choice Top 100 Nightclubs and Bars. Making the cut this year are Body English, Cherry, Ghostbar, Jet, Kahunaville, Light, the Playboy Club, Pure, Rumjungle, Studio 54, Tabú, Tangerine, Tao and Tryst. The report, put forth by Oxford Publishing, marks the third year in a row that Vegas has topped the list over Los Angeles, Miami and New York.

Under the Influence

Studio 54 finally unveils Influence on January 9, adding to the exponential increase of midweek industry parties and filling the Tuesday night void inside the MGM. The night touts an exclusive catering to the folks who "influence" the restaurant and nightclub scene. Making sure the inaugural evening packs in a crowd, free cocktails will be poured until midnight and WWE diva Candice Michelle will oversee the festivities.

Cocktail o' the Week

Warp Core Breach
Star Trek Experience, Hilton, $25

Ingredients

Southern Supreme passion

berry mix

Kingston white rum

Ron Diaz lemon rum

Ron Diaz spiced rum

Ron Diaz 151 rum

Dekuyper Razzmatazz liqueur

As the signature drink for Quark's Bar and Restaurant, this intergalactic libation contains 10 ounces of liquor, but we were told the actual amounts could not be disclosed. "We are forbidden by Ferengi management to give more than the ingredients to this concoction," said a Star Trek spokesperson. "Ferengi Rule of Acquisition No. 82 states: Never let the competition know what you're thinking." Regardless, it's recommended for two or more, as the powerful punch this bowl of booze delivers is enough to get even Spock dancing on the table.
