COMING TO TOWN: Augustana

Julie Seabaugh

Augustana

All the Stars and Boulevards *** 1/2

No recent modern-rock release has better conveyed the hidden downside of life in the fast lane than this overlooked, 2006-reissued debut. Radio ballad “Boston” was a modest hit, but it’s tracks like “Hotel Roosevelt,” “Wasteland,” “Lonely People” and “Coffee and Cigarettes” that truly boast a Kerouac collection’s worth of poetic introspection and folk wanderlust.

With Dashboard Confessional, John Ralston. October 12, 6:30 p.m., $25.50. House of Blues, 632-7600.
