America’s Best DJ opens up the vote (with Vegas resident nominees to choose from)

Local DJ Justin Blau (aka DJ 3Lau) produced “Escape,” which made it into some of Tiësto’s recent sets.

DJs will no doubt be soliciting soon for their fans’ clicks, as the vote recently opened up for the annual America’s Best DJ competition.

A partnership between DJ Times magazine and electronics giant Pioneer, the yearly survey asks dance music enthusiasts to choose their favorites online from a list of 100 nominees selected by the editors of DJ Times.

Take a look at the billboards lining the way out of McCarran and the Strip’s vibrant marquees, and it should be no surprise that a number of those nominees hold residencies up and down Las Vegas Boulevard.

Among the 100, those with local engagements include Baauer, Cedric Gervais, Claude VonStroke, Dillon Francis, Diplo, Erick Morillo, Krewella, Manufactured Superstars, Morgan Page, Porter Robinson, RL Grime, Skrillex, DJ Vice and Wolfgang Gartner.

The list also includes hometown acts The Crystal Method and 3lau, the latter a resident at Marquee. Find the full list below.

The contest is supplemented with the America’s Best DJ Summer Tour, where fans can vote in person on paper ballots for their preferred beatmeister at nightclub events and festivals across the country. Four Vegas tour stops made the cut, including a Porter Robinson set at Marquee (June 20), the Electric Daisy Carnival (June 20-22) and two Carnage shows at Tao Beach and Marquee Nightclub (June 22, July 5).

The contest culminates on October 12 at Marquee Nightclub during the America’s Best DJ Closing Party and Award Ceremony. So, who will take home the gold-plated Pioneer mixer? Only time – and your votes – will tell.
