With house-y beats and cheaper drinks, Artisan Afterhours is still bumping

Turn on the dark: The Artisan is still bumping after all these years.

The Artisan is like a trusty old friend always down to kick it. No matter how long it’s been since you’ve seen each other, you easily fall back into its groove of house-y beats and cheaper drinks.

This was the case on November 16, when Artisan’s vibe was still going strong at 5 a.m., with Vegas fave Joey Mazzola providing the tunes. The lighting remains minimal, with vampire-like guests lurking in the shadows and surveying the scene, but still tapping their toes. If only that little dancefloor wasn’t also the main walkway in and out of the party, surely more people would get up to get down.

The Artisan’s pre-sunrise offerings have long been a staple of seasoned local partiers for legit, no-hassle afterhours. Though the calendar has been updated, the house music program that’s been rolling since before the EDM boom still rules the weekends. Trusted local veteran DJs Justin Hoffman, Eddie McDonald and Frank Richards have teamed up for a new party called Sound on Friday nights. JustIN Key and M!KEATTACK share Saturday duties with Mazzola. And Social Sunday, featuring Key and LP Sound, has been known to keep it going until 8 a.m.

Special events abound as well. If Burning Man-themed, leave-no-trace desert parties are your jam, hit the Glow in the Dark afterparty on November 30. And takeover events during major holidays get a hotel full of revelers into the spirit. One of my fondest memories of the Artisan was a staycation in 2009—you can’t beat partying all night, then stumbling right to your hotel room.

The Artisan still reigns supreme if you want to be a baller on a budget. You can nab free admission if you’re a local or a lady, and half-off well drinks and domestic beer from 11 p.m. to 1 a.m. But our favorite promotion is still in place—a free birthday bottle, with additional ones for $99! (Email operations manager Martine Jordan at [email protected] during the month of your birthday.)

So thanks for keeping it real and fun, Artisan. We’ll see you again soon.

Artisan Lounge 1501 W. Sahara Ave., 702-214-4000. Afterhours: Friday-Sunday, doors at 10 p.m., $10, locals and women free. Lounge open 24/7.
