Motley Brews’ Downtown Brew Festival is a beer geek’s dream

Motley Brews is truly spoiling us. A mere few months after creating ample buzz by setting their Great Vegas Festival of Beer smack in the middle of Downtown, the boys at Motley are at it again, serving up 200-plus beers from 60-plus breweries at this weekend’s Downtown Brew Festival.

It’s an embarrassment of craft riches from start to finish, with offerings from Left Coast, Ballast Point, Epic, Ninkasi, Delirium, Pizza Port and co-sponsor Victory topping the list.

The festival is also an excellent introduction to the evolution of Las Vegas breweries, featuring the established players—Tenaya Creek, Chicago, Ellis Island, Big Dog’s, Joseph James—and newer kids in town—Banger, Bad Beat and CraftHaus.

Pairing the enormous variety of beers should be a snap, as Comme Ça, DW Bistro and Forte will all be setting up shop, offering everything from freshly shucked Kumamoto oysters and crispy pig skins to pork jerk tacos and Stroganoff fries.

Adding to the inviting atmosphere of the Clark County Amphitheater will be music from A Crowd of Small Adventures, Josh Royse and Daniel Park. Motley may have its hands full topping this experience with its next festival.

Downtown Brew Festival September 20, VIP 5 p.m., $40-$55; GA, 6 p.m., $40-$45. Clark County Amphitheater, downtownbrewfestival.com.
