Like anything that gets anywhere near Steve Wynn’s brand, XS Nightclub is known for its extravagance—a way for people to transcend the real and indulge in their wildest fantasies. We asked Yannick Mugnier, general manager of XS, what goes into making the Encore nightclub one of Vegas’ most decadent wonderlands.
“The entire production and lighting crew work very closely to create a perfectly timed show for each artist and their set,” Mugnier says. “If one element is not perfectly timed to the beat or the drop of the music, then the show does not work.”
From the insane number of LED screens that flank XS’ walls to the production teams that make everything run seamlessly, Mugnier gave us a behind-the-scenes look at just how gigantic an operation XS is, night in and night out. Here’s how it all stacks up, by the numbers.
120: LED screens inside XS’ queue area
36: cabanas, each with its own LED screen
12: flame cannons on the roof, timed to the music
10: people who make up the Production and Lighting Department, including the production manager, video DJ, lighting operator, laser operator, stage manager, pyrotechnic operator and four stage hands
7: 14-watt lasers
2: giant motorized screens above the DJ booth, which can be raised and lowered during shows
