Nightlife News & Notes: Travis Scott and Pusha T at Drai’s, Pop-Up returns and more

Massive parties tend to occur when fashion and apparel conventions like MAGIC come to town, and Drai’s just announced a doozy. The Agenda lifestyle fashion trade show, at Venetian February 15-17, teams up with Hypebeast and Kanye West’s GOOD Music to present Travis Scott and Pusha T performing live on February 16. Tickets are $30 for women and $50 for men (for now), and doors open at 10:30 p.m.

DJ 88’s Pop-Up music series returns to Ghostbar at the Palms on February 21 with its Electro Edition, featuring a DJ set from California duo She Wants Revenge in celebration of the 10-year anniversary of the release of its first record. SWR is coming off three sold-out anniversary shows in LA. 88, aka Bree Delano, dropped the debut Pop-Up Soulsonic Edition back in November, the opener in a series of locals-oriented parties with a rotating musical focus. Penn National Gaming has named Howard Weiss vice president of daylife and nightlife operations for its two Las Vegas resorts, the Tropicana on the Strip and M Resort in Henderson. Weiss will be charged with reintroducing DayDream Pool Club at the M as well as introducing the new Sky Beach Club venue at the Trop in April, where former concepts Bagatelle and Nikki Beach struggled to catch on in recent years.

Speaking of dayclub season, it’s almost here, and Hakkasan Group recently announced dates and headliners for its daytime venues. Wet Republic at MGM Grand opens March 11 with DJ Shift and sets a grand opening date for April 2-3 with Tiësto and Steve Aoki. Liquid restarts the pool party March 11 with Mikey Francis and holds its grand opening celebration April 7 with Lil Jon making his debut at the Aria venue. And Bare also warms it up March 11 with DJ Que, with a grand opening April 18 featuring Blackout Artists Shift, Karma and Ikon.

Nightclub & Bar Media Group has selected the winners of the 2016 Nightclub & Bar Awards, and Las Vegas gets some props—Herbs & Rye barman and proprietor Nectaly Mendoza will be recognized as Bartender of the Year and Lagasse’s Stadium at Palazzo gets the nod as Sports Bar of the Year when the awards are officially presented at the Nightclub & Bar Convention and Trade Show at the Las Vegas Convention Center March 7-9.
