Named after a computer virus, Netsky (aka Boris Daenen) will be infiltrating Beauty Bar for Nickel Beer Night with an amalgamation of music. We caught up with the producer and musician, whose track “Rio” was selected as the official soundtrack for Belgium's 2016 Olympic team, to talk about his new album in the works and his Netsky & Chill tour making a stop on Fremont Street this week.

You’ve said you don’t want to focus on one genre during this tour, that you want to create an atmosphere where you can play the whole spectrum of electronic music. What are some lesser-known elements you want to expose people to? The last tour we did of the States, we had a full band, and when we do a live tour we only play my own material and mostly drum ’n’ bass. … When I’m just DJing, it obviously gives me a lot more freedom in selection and I can go more wide than I would do with the band. … The tour is called Netsky & Chill, and what I want to do musically is try and explore sexy-sounding tracks as well as some cool R&B or hip-hop influences, and try to fit that in a high-energy, diverse electronic set. I’m going to play longer sets than I normally do.

Thank you for working breakbeats into your music. Do you think 2016 is the year that will come back? To be honest, I thought about that for a long time and I always thought breakbeats was a genre that could really come back. I love breakbeats as well, but I think music right now is all about transparency. Focus on the musical elements instead of the noisiness, and I think that’s what people want to hear in the future.

You’ve got a third album set for this year. Can you give us a hint about the vibe? The single is called “Work It Out” and it’s probably the most poppy song on the album, but it’s a song about positivity. It’s either about a relationship or about work or even about going to the gym. I hope people can use it in all those situations. All the songs I produced for the album are very positive-sounding, and that’s the kind of music that I like to make.

Since the tour is called Netsky & Chill, what are some of your favorite shows to Netflix or binge on when you have time? The last Netflix show I really binged on through the whole thing was Narcos. I absolutely love that show.

Netsky With Byra Tanks, Jack Spaidz, Jayrod. February 16, 9 p.m., $12. Beauty Bar, 702-598-3757.
