Cachaça, cachaça everywhere and not a drop left after 12 bartenders got through with it Friday at Leblon Cachaça’s Muddle, Shake and Pour cocktail competition. With only 20 minutes for five finalists to make magic with the secret ingredient—passion fruit!—Tiburcio won the day with his Passion of Brasil, available at SushiSamba the entire month of August.

Ingredients:

Four lime wedges

1 bar spoon sugar

0.25 oz. passion fruit puree

2 basil leaves

2 oz. Leblon Cachaça

1 oz. St. Germain

Elderflower Liqueur

Strawberry liqueur

Homemade strawberry liqueur for the Passion of Brasil:

Muddle one ripe strawberry with .25 oz St. Germain and a few dashes of water. Strain liqueur out and float on top of the completed cocktail.

Method:

In a pint glass, muddle the lime, sugar and one basil leaf. Add the passion fruit, Leblon and St. Germaine. Shake and strain into a rocks glass over ice. Add a float of strawberry liqueur. Garnish with a lime wedge and a large basil leaf.
