Slick Rick at 1 OAK It takes guts for a club to book a rapper whose songs feature start-to-finish stories rather than repetitive phrases and celebratory exhortations. Can the dancefloor act undistracted for a handful of hip-hop classics? Make the most of this, Slick Rick fans—it’s his only Las Vegas appearance on the U.S. tour celebrating the 25th anniversary of his landmark album, The Great Adventures of Slick Rick. With DJ Que. May 9, doors at 10:30 p.m., $40 men, $30 women.

Glo at Luxor While Temptation Sundays officially returns to Luxor’s Oasis Pool next week, its fifth season kicks off with a special after-dark affair Saturday night, scored by DJ Matt. Don’t forget that neon-hued Speedo! May 10, doors at 7:30 p.m., $20, $10 locals, text VEGAS to 77948 for free entry until 8:30 p.m.

Lee’s Beer and Tequila Experience at LVH Lee’s Discount Liquor brings its annual booze bash back to the LVH, offering cocktail connoisseurs and beer geeks alike more than 300 craft brews and 70 tequilas to sip and savor. The charitable tasting includes a silent auction benefiting Lee’s Helping Hand and live music by The Voice Season 5 contestant Barry Black. May 10, 3-8 p.m., $50 advance, $60 at the door.

Chainsmokers at Hakkasan The New York City-based electro house duo was aligned with Marquee just last year. That was before “#Selfie” and Steve Aoki’s purchase of that song for his Dim Mak label. Now, it’s a giant EDM hit, and Aoki has the boys opening for him at the club where he holds a residency. Because that’s how you take care of your boys, especially in Las Vegas. May 10, doors at 10:30 p.m., $30+ men, $20+ women.

9th Anniversary at Piranha The veteran Fruit Loop club/lounge rings in its final single-digit year Saturday night with a performance by drag queen trio D.W.V. (including RuPaul’s Drag Race alums Willam and Detox) and a $5,000 balloon drop. If clubs age in dog years, does that mean Piranha is a daddy? May 10, doors at 10 p.m., free.

Welcome to Dillaville at Insert Coin(s) They just seem to breed iconic beatmasters in Detroit, and few have resonated with the hip-hop community more than J Dilla, whose work essentially provided the foundation for the so-called backpacker movement, and who passed away at the age of 32 due to lupus. A tribute tour making the rounds—complete with Dilla memorabilia—includes performers renowned for their association to the producer: Pharcyde principals Slimkid3 and Fatlip, performing as Bizarre Ride Live, and Dilla’s former band, Slum Village. MC Serge Severe and DJs Wels, Phoreyz and Silent John support. May 14, 9 p.m., $10.

Studio B with Baauer at Light The Cirque du Soleil-partnered danceteria switches things up this week for its Wednesday industry party, as resident Baauer launches Studio B. The new monthly party sees the “Harlem Shake” creator and trap pioneer collaborating with guests (this week: MC A$AP Ferg), introducing new visuals from hot Internet artist SuS BoY and incorporating new vignettes by the club’s Cirque performers. Light and Baauer look to be doing us locals a solid on this one. May 14, doors at 10:30 p.m., $30 men, $20 women.

Wine Down Wednesdays at Silverton Hump day got you down? Enter Silverton’s Sway Pool, which features weekly wine tastings and notable sponsors (this week: Master Sommelier Ron Mumford) each Wednesday this May with small plate offerings, live entertainment and prize drawings. Summer is on its way, so enjoy some vino al fresco while you can. May 14, 6-8 p.m., free.
