As Weekly sister pub Vegas Inc. reported this Monday, MGM Resorts has partnered with the Morgans Hotel Group to remake The Hotel at Mandalay Bay into the Delano Las Vegas in 2013. And while The Hotel gets a new name and look, Mandalay Bay is getting a makeover of its own. Light Group will open shiny new dining options of the American bistro and Japanese persuasion, as well as a new nightclub. Where will it land? There’s a nice big space on the way to self parking that’s sitting empty ...

The Venetian and Palazzo have been celebrating Carnevale all summer long, but I’ve been eyeing August since it started. Why? This month is dedicated to the appreciation of food and wine—two important components of Italian culture and two things I appreciate very, very often. Cibo-Vino (Italian for Food-Wine) continues this week with an oyster shooting party (August 10) and a dinner and Vino Hop with restaurateur, winemaker and scary MasterChef judge Joe Bastianich (both August 11). Later this month, Alex Stratta will return to the Strip for a wine dinner (August 24), and the Carnival of Cuisine will dish up tastes from more than 15 property restaurants. Hungry? Mangia!

I have always dreamed of being somebody’s one millionth customer: the confetti, the surprise, the oversized check! Well, I missed another chance this past weekend when Marquee Nightclub celebrated its big 1,000,000th with all the balloons and fanfare a girl could want. The lucky winner was doused in confetti, handed a supersized drink ticket by Marquee mascot Mr. Q and comped a VIP table and $5,000 worth of swag, bottles and other clubby keepsakes. If anyone knows of another venue looking for its millionth, please let me know.
