How do you celebrate a double win at the MTV Video Music Awards? If you’re Scottish DJ/producer Calvin Harris, you get right to work. Two days after Harris took home the Moonmen for Best Video (“We Found Love” with Rihanna) and Best EDM Video (“Feel So Close”), he hit the decks at XS Saturday night in front of a packed house that included Michael Phelps and that guy Tom you were friends with on MySpace. XS Managing Partner Jesse Waits and Las Vegas Nightlife Group Operating Partner Sean Christie presented Harris with a giant cake in the shape of his MTV award. Unlike his other Moonmen, however, this one won’t be going on his mantel at home.
It didn’t make our belly-first football watch guide last week (because it doesn’t serve team-specific food), but Ranch House Kitchen at Town Square deserves a shout out now that the NFL is in full swing. The bar and restaurant has partnered with local nightlife company CollectiveZoo to present Pigskin Playground, a $20 all-you-can-eat Sunday brunch party with drink specials, bar games and WiFi for folks who want to compulsively check their fantasy stats all day. Set your alarm: The fun starts at 10 a.m.
And just across the green in Town Square, another venue is getting ready to kick up its heels. Vegas country capital Stoney’s is closing its current location and moving just up the boulevard to a space at the rear of Town Square near H&M. The new Stoney’s is slated to open in October and will offer a more upscale take on country nightlife with an upgraded VIP area and more modern decor. Just the place to two-step in style.
