Another week, another round of pool club news. Sapphire Pool Club has set an opening date of May 2, just in time for those Cinco de Mayo weekend fiestas. Sapphire has also tapped celebrity chef Kerry Simon to craft a special menu for the club. “Get ready to whet your appetite. We are taking pool food to a whole new level,” says Simon, who is also behind the self-named Simon at Palms Place and burger joint KGB at Harrah’s.

Speaking of pool food, last season saw the explosion of cocktail-infused ice cream pops at pretty much every dayclub in town, which might have won some awards for “most innovative way to get day drunk.” But we’re not so sure about this new combination: Sushi Poppers mimic those old-school Flintstones Push-Ups, except with a roll of sushi coming out of the top. They’re already showing up at trade shows this month and are slated to debut at Rehab on April 21. Apparently, they’re freshly rolled the same day and easier to eat while partying than anything involving chopsticks. Taste test, anyone?

Macklemore visited Vegas last weekend, showing up at Body English Afterhours early Saturday morning in his finest fringe-game getup. And the rapper took to Twitter to comment on his evening out: “... enjoying watching people order $500 bottles of champagne while dancing to a song I wrote about wearing used clothes.” Oh, the irony. The rapper got into the DJ booth and sang over his own “Thrift Shop” vocals before stage diving into the late-night crowd.

And seriously, Olympic swimmers must love Las Vegas. On Saturday afternoon four-time Olympic gold medalist Matt Grevers rolled into GBDC with an entourage of 30—enough to field seven relay teams!—including friends and fellow Olympic swimmers Ricky Berens, Mike Alexandrov, Nathan Adrian, Jean Basson, Clark Burckle and Bobby Hurley, for what Grevers later tweeted was the “best bachelor party ever!!!” The crew was later seen popping bottles over at Moon nightclub.
