Did you hear about the surprise Joel Zimmerman appearance at XS last weekend? The producer better known as Deadmau5 played an unannounced set at the Encore club Friday night, sans his trademark mau5head and for a tidy sum of zero dollars. The DJ stepped up after ribbing XS managing partner Jesse Waits earlier in the evening about booking him, and offered to do it for free when Waits said he couldn’t pay. Deadmau5 was rumored to have signed a two-year deal with Hakkasan (and Angel Management Group) earlier this year but no longer appears on the club’s DJ roster and hasn’t performed there since July.

Insomniac announced Monday that EDC Week is rolling into town June 17-23, with the festival proper running June 20-22. Loyal Electric Daisy attendees—those who purchased passes through Flavorus for 2011, 2012 or 2013’s festival—will get early access to tickets to the 2014 edition, starting November 25 at noon and ending 24 hours later, with public Early Owl presale starting December 2.

In weekend celeb sightings, former NFL star and current analyst Donovan McNabb and NBA All-Star Gary Payton partied at Tao Saturday night, while Dr. Dre’s son Curtis “Hood Surgeon” Young was seen over at Body English and Taye Diggs and friends danced to Tiësto at Hakkasan on Sunday. The weekend’s UFC action brought Weekly coverboy Anthony Pettis and commentator Mike Goldberg to Ghostbar on Thursday night, Cisco Rivera to Tao on Friday and the group of middleweight champion Chris Weidman, Mike Pyle, Martin Kampmann, Luke Barnatt, Jordan Mein, Tom Watson, Chael Sonnen and The Ultimate Fighter winner Kelvin Gastelum to Hakkasan, also on Friday.
