Nightlife News & Notes: A Burning Man-inspired (and house/techno heavy) festival in the desert and more

Mark Farina headlines the Zero Point: Return to Center festival.

It’s not uncommon for DJs to sneak off into the desert and perform at a makeshift party spot for outdoors-loving and self-reliant revelers through a night or weekend. But the Zero Point: Return to Center festival, being held 45 minutes southeast of Las Vegas, puts its own spin on that tradition.

The dynamic three-day, camping-friendly event, partly inspired by the principles of Burning Man, will feature a massive nighttime DJ lineup—headlined by West Coast house innovator Mark Farina, and supported by a handful of California notables and locals well-known in house and techno circles, all amplified by Funktion-One and Turbosound systems. During the day, health-conscious, metaphysical and spirituality-based activities will dominate. Specifically, the event will employ “zero point scalar technology,” or bioactive energy fields, via an Energy Enhancement System that claims to have healing benefits for its users. The After DJ crew, which will have its own showcase late Friday night at Zero Point, has announced it will join the Dancetronauts art car for afternoon grooves at Life Is Beautiful on October 26.
