Citrus at Downtown Grand

Encore Beach Club ushered in dayclub season on the Strip Friday morning, but the splash-bash action also began Downtown, as the Downtown Grand debuted Citrus, its new rooftop pool area. The renovated space features an infinity pool, cabanas, a bar (serving spirit-infused lemonades and signature cocktails), dining space, a fire pit and a grass seating area where guests can play cornhole, table tennis and foosball. Admission is free to Downtown Grand hotel guests, as well as Las Vegas residents—only if you’re 21 and over, though. Citrus is open daily from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Veteran Rock of Ages cast member Mark Shunock has been named creative director of Wynn’s soon-to-open Intrigue Nightclub. The actor and singer will curate “an eclectic mix of entertainment forms to create a vibrant nightlife scene” at the anticipated hot spot, which is slated to open April 28. Aside from his three-year stint portraying Lenny in the glam rock-focused musical, which recently moved from the Venetian to the Rio, Shunock is also the creator of Mondays Dark, a monthly variety show featuring local headliners that benefits a different local charity at each installment.

One of the state’s largest alcohol distributors has a new name, as Wirtz Beverage Nevada became Breakthru Beverage Nevada March 1. A news release indicated that the company’s day-to-day operations will remain “primarily unchanged,” and its existing facilities in Las Vegas and Reno (which employ more than 500 workers) will be maintained. The group aims to continue the expansion of their footprint within the craft beer industry.

Chateau revealed a last-minute booking earlier this week, as rapper Sean Kingston will take the stage at the Paris nightclub tonight to perform some of his radio hits. Expect to hear “Fire Burning” and “Beautiful Girls” in between beats by DJ ShadowRed at the Rugby Tough Guy Weekend bash. Doors open at 10:30 p.m. and entry is $35 for men and $25 for ladies.
