Faces of Haiti

Wed, Mar 17, 2010 (11 a.m.)

On Jan. 12, 2010, a 7.3-magnitude earthquake struck the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere, Haiti. Days later, Greenspun Media Group photographer Justin M. Bowen joined 125 other volunteers known as the Utah Hospital Task Force and visited the stricken country. The group treated more than 5,000 patients, assisted the U.S. Army's 82nd Airborne in distributing food rations to well over 250,000 people and provided shelter, security and comfort to countless men, women and children left homeless in the earthquake. The Task Force also assisted in the clearance of 141 orphans, 66 of which made it to the United States on the team's returning flight. Here is just a glimpse of what he saw.
