What to see, buy and go to this week

It takes two years to get an appointment with Starlight Tattoo owner Mario Barth - plenty of time for you to decide between that rose or the mom heart.

GO

The Biggest Tattoo Show on Earth Hyperbole aside, Mario Barth’s Mandalay Bay ink expo brings artists from across the globe to ply their trade in Vegas for a weekend. Which means you can get a traditional Samoan tatau from the legendary Petelo Suluape without ponying up cash for a flight. October 1-3, $45 per day, $100 three-day pass, Mandalay Convention Center.

UNLV vs. RENO What’s better than taking down a rival? Knocking that rival from its first AP Top 25 football ranking since the 1940s. Of course, the Rebels are 1-3 and the Wildcats are 4-0 (with wins over Cal and BYU on that resumé). But UNLV did annihilate New Mexico, 45-10, last weekend. Might the Fremont Cannon stay south this winter? October 2, 7 p.m., $25-$35.

Dukes of September The vice admiral of yacht rock, Michael McDonald, joins Boz Scaggs and Donald Fagen (of Steely Dan) in this “rhythm revue.” After collaborating with Grizzly Bear last year, McDonald has indie cred—perfect for Matador weekend. Fortunately, the odds are long on hearing “Yah Mo Be There.” October 2, 8 p.m., $36-$96, The Joint.

Violin Time Grammy winner Hilary Hahn performs regularly with the best orchestras in the world. See her and pianist Natasha Paremski—with the UNLV Symphony Orchestra—take on Tchaikovsky’s “Violin Concerto” and Brahms’ “Piano Concerto No. 1.” September 30, 8 p.m., $35-$70, Ham Hall.

SEE

No Ordinary Family

No Ordinary Family Fans burned by Heroes should check out this new show, which blends superpowered action and family drama in a creative, entertaining way. It’s a great antidote to endless cop and lawyer dramas. Tuesdays, 8 p.m., ABC.

Matador at 21 webcast No, you don’t need tickets, a room at the Palms or even pants to see it. MySpace is set to broadcast almost every set live as it appears, and again the following morning at myspace.com/matador21.

BUY

A Bronx Tale Chazz Palminteri’s one-man show—based on his Bronx upbringing among wiseguys and wannabes—is a must-see, when it’s in town. Tickets are on sale now. October 7-18 (dark October 12-13), 8 p.m., $46-$166, Venetian.
