Miss USA 2013 Preliminary

It was a night of glittering glamour, gorgeous gowns, stunning swimsuits and sexy smiles. The 51 Miss USA contestants dazzled and wowed at last night’s preliminary pageant at Planet Hollywood.

Miss Nevada Chelsea Caswell radiated confidence and pizzazz in the swimsuit and evening gown categories.

All 51 girls walked the stage when introduced by reigning Miss USA Nana Meriwether, who will relinquish her title and crown the new winner live on NBC Sunday night. Las Vegas morning DJ Chet Buchanan joined her to co-host.

Last night’s judges voted 15 of the girls into the semifinals, but the cumulative scores remain a secret until Sunday. A 16th girl, who can be voted on by fans at www.missusa.com until Saturday night, will join them.

Our thanks to contributing photographer Tom Donoghue for his photos.

This pageant, the sixth consecutive one in Las Vegas, brings to an end the current three-year contract between Donald Trump’s Miss Universe parent organization and our Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority.

“If everything works out well, we’d love to return next year and on into the future” Miss USA president Paula Shugart told me. “Hopefully we can start that conversation on Monday morning right after this year's telecast.”

Our full interview with Paula will be posted at Vegas DeLuxe later today so be sure to check back. We will be posting live on Twitter from Sunday’s pageant along with photos of the crowning of the new Miss USA 2013 shortly after that dreaded “final question” and the judges’ verdict. We’ll also have our interview with the winner here on Monday morning.
