Endurocross If you’ve never seen one of these competitions, consider yourself deprived. All the elements of an off-road race are here … except that it’s indoors! Loud, exciting and super intense. May 3, 8 p.m., $37-$47, Orleans Arena.

Free Comic Book Day Shops all over the country will give away comic books from dozens of publishers, all designed to showcase the colorful world of comics to both new and existing readers. Local stores will feature signings, performances and more, in addition to the free comics. May 4, locations and titles at freecomicbookday.com.

Science and Technology Expo Watch the Banana Slug String Band rock out and Rubik’s Cube geniuses race, then launch a rocket, touch ancient fossils, gaze at stars, commune with wondrous bugs and critters and “blow something up!” We’re not sure exactly what that last one means, but science is awesome. May 4, 10 a.m.-7 p.m., free, Cashman Center.

Lei Day The 16th annual Las Vegas Lei Day Hawaiian and Polynesian Festival returns to the Cal this weekend, featuring music from Gary Haleamau, Kawili and others, plus tons of food and art vendors. May 4 & 5, 9 a.m.-6 p.m. (concert May 4 at 7 p.m.), free, California Hotel.

Hear

Paramore The pop-rockers’ diverse, ambitious new self-titled album has been hailed as their best yet. Check them out live to hear those impressive new songs, along with old favorites. May 3, 8 p.m., $31-$96, the Joint.

Celestial Bodies Gustav Holst wrote The Planets long before rovers were transmitting images from Mars. The Las Vegas Philharmonic performs the seven-piece suite for its season finale, with high-def images of our solar system accompanying the music. Eat

Fuku de Mayo Local food trucks unite for a Cinco de Mayo roundup, offering holiday twists on their usual menu items.
