During a live Good Morning America broadcast from a nearby desert location, pop princess Britney Spears announced today her upcoming residency at the Planet Hollywood. The show, Britney: Piece of Me, begins December 27 and will run for two years.

Of course, Brit-Brit is no stranger to the Las Vegas Strip. So we decided to look back on a few of her more memorable Vegas moments:

January 2004

Britney Spears over the years in Vegas

Spears wed her childhood friend Jason Alexander at the Little White Wedding Chapel on Las Vegas Boulevard—and promptly annulled the marriage 55 hours later. She later called in to MTV’s Total Request Live to assert her belief in the sanctity of marriage, adding, “but I was in Vegas and it took over me and things got out of hand.”

July 2007

The former Mouseketeer made headlines during a weekender at the Wynn after her bodyguard was slapped with a battery charge following a scuffle with some paparazzi. At least there wasn’t an umbrella around …

September 2007

We all remember Brit-Brit’s career-changing, ill-fated performance at MTV’s Video Music Awards, but do you remember that the awards show was broadcast from the Palms that year? Neither did we.

March 2011

Tempting the fates, the pop star returned to the Palms for yet another MTV taping—this time for her very own concert special, recording at the off-Strip hotel’s Rain Nightclub wearing a sparkly one-piece bathing suit-ish thing and a leather, lace-up corset with unfortunate red stitching in the nipple region. Dear Britney costume designers, do better.
