GO

USA Sevens Rugby Tournament Sixteen international teams. Forty-four matches. Seven-minute halves. This is fast-paced entertainment with one of the most festive sports atmospheres you’ll find in Las Vegas. January 24-26, prices & times vary, Sam Boyd Stadium.

Flashdance the Musical Flashdance the movie happened 30 years ago, and its tale of a welder with big dreams still makes us embarrass ourselves with the “Maniac” dance. The musical has 16 extra songs in addition to the hits, all leg-warmer friendly. January 28-February 2, 7:30 p.m. (and 2 p.m. Saturday & Sunday), $26-$129, Smith Center’s Reynolds Hall.

HEAR

Squidhat Records 2nd Anniversary Showcase The ever-expanding local punk imprint blows out the candles with sets by roster mainstays (Surrounded By Thieves, The People’s Whiskey), reunited bands (Attack Ships on Fire, Peccadilloes) and like-minded acts showcasing for a slot on the label (Mercy Music, Unfair Fight)—all of it free to the public. January 24 & 25, 10 p.m., Double Down.

Dolly Parton For anyone who has yet to catch country music’s greatest living female songwriter and performer, get thee down to Primm to be entertained—and charmed right out of your boots. Besides, she could use your dough. As she famously says, it costs a lot of money to look that cheap. January 25, 8 p.m., $59-$99, Star of the Desert Arena.

Love Has No Bounds Benefit Concert Punk and pinups go hand in hand, so it’s no surprise Sunday’s show, benefiting Operation Homefront, has both. The lineup includes local bands like Love Vendetta and The Civilians, quality art for sale and a photo booth featuring retro calendar girls of Pinups for Patriots Nevada. January 26, 5 p.m., $10-$15, Hard Rock Live.

EAT

Gus' Beer & Bites Is this fun-filled, suds-focused dinner series one of Vegas’ great unsung foodie events? We think so. The first of the year features flavorful brews from Firestone Walker paired with creative cuisine from the crew at the Pub at Monte Carlo. January 29, 6:30 p.m., $65.
