You may have already dusted off your swimsuit. But even if you’ve taken advantage of our decidedly un-wintery weather, you haven’t done so at the Valley’s two water parks, Cowabunga Bay in Henderson and Wet ‘N’ Wild in south Summerlin. But you can starting Saturday, March 19, when both take the padlocks off their gates and welcome the public for the 2016 season kickoff.

And what new screamworthy slides or refreshing water attractions will be beckoning us to the splash parks this year? None, actually—both are focusing on other offerings.

A representative for Wet ‘N’ Wild said the only new development for 2016 would be added special events, including Saturday’s anti-bullying Be Kind event/benefit. A February update on the slide haven’s Facebook page also indicated that more shade and days of operation are being offered. (For operating days and hours and ticket prices, visit here.)

Over at Cowabunga Bay, a spokesperson says the throwback theme park has also added more special events and shade, as well as more seating and gourmet food selections, augmented park lighting for later evening hours and upgraded safety systems, all part of a $250,000-plus guest-enhancement effort.

In other Cowabunga news, one of its 2015 additions, Wild Surf, will be featured on an upcoming episode of Travel Channel’s Xtreme Waterparks series, which highlights the world’s most thrilling aquatic amusements. The cable channel shot footage last summer of riders hitting insane positive and negative g-forces on the 60-foot tall wow of a wave. (For operating days and hours and ticket prices, visit here.)
