Las Vegas is lucky to have landed a truly unique series of performances by AJ Lambert this year. She’s singing two of her grandfather Frank Sinatra’s legendary albums, In the Wee Small Hours and Only the Lonely during monthly shows at The Space that began in January and will continue through November.

AJ discusses these emotional performances, why she chose this material and what it’s like to be singing in the city that is forever tied to Sinatra and his legacy. “These albums for me are so important because they’re kind of desperate and I feel that way about this person. I want to know so much more and I can’t. And they’re ridiculously hard things to sing but I want to do them because they let me have something that I can’t in real life.”

We also talk about how much she loves to drive in from LA (stopping off for a “full alien playground experience”), which Sinatra songs she can’t wait to sing at her next Vegas show, her time as one of two bass players in an infamous punk band, the influence and music of her mom Nancy Sinatra, the torture and joy of being painted green, and the album of covers AJ recently completed.

AJ Lambert performs at The Space on April 20, May 18, June 15, July 20, August 17, September 21, October 26 and November 16.

EPISODE 1: THE VEGAS YOU NEED

AJ cannot contain herself when asked for Vegas recommendations and since she’s our very first guest, we let her go crazy. She wants you to check out Seven Magic Mountains, go hiking at Red Rock Canyon, have a drink at Velveteen Rabbit and eat your way through Chinatown, especially at Sushi Neko and Veggie House.

Mark suggests you go directly to T-Mobile Arena immediately and catch the phenomenon that is the Vegas Golden Knights.

Brock wants you to experience the new menu at Spring Mountain Road hot spot Sparrow + Wolf.
