The Barrick Museum at UNLV is asking people to create a new drawing every day in response the COVID-19 pandemic.

The museum temporarily shut its doors to the public on Monday, March 16 as Governor Sisolak called for all non-essential businesses to close. But even the novel coronavirus can’t stop Las Vegans from making and sharing art.

On March 18, the museum announced on Instagram that it would be hosting a remote community event and global exhibition titled, A Drawing a Day Keeps the Pandemic Away.

Artists of all skill levels are encouraged to visit the museum’s Instagram account for daily prompts and to upload the images using the hashtag #pandemicdrawings, or by emailing them to [email protected].

The drawings will be compiled in a digital catalog and shared at the end of the project.

Previous prompts have included “express your most intense current feelings in one drawing,” “make two things in one (hybrid drawing)” and “draw a self-portrait.”
