March might be the month when several Las Vegas Strip shows reopen for live performances, but it will not see the debut of popular male revue Magic Mike Live in a new theater as previously planned. The show announced today that the opening date has been pushed back, from March 26 to August 27, at the north Strip resort.

Today’s statement notes: “The entire Magic Mike Live team remains committed to delivering an experience that’s bigger, better and more magical than ever before, and promises it’ll be worth the wait.” It cites the uncertainty around public gatherings and entertainment events due to the pandemic and the availability of the creative and producing teams as reasons for the delay.

Ticketholders will be contacted directly by the box office to refund or reschedule, according to the statement.

Co-created by Magic Mike movie star Channing Tatum and produced by Base Entertainment, the show originally opened in 2017 at the former Body English nightclub space at the Hard Rock Hotel. After nearly 1,500 shows, it closed in November 2019 after announcing the move to the Sahara on the Las Vegas Strip, which was initially planned for spring 2020.

The new Magic Mike Live Theater seats 450 and is located just off the casino floor on the way to the Sahara’s meeting and convention spaces. It will have a two-story bar that doubles as performance space, with state-of-the-art lighting and surround sound systems, a variety of seating options from couches and easy chairs to cabaret tables, and ziplines spanning the venue, allowing performers to fly across the room in seconds.
