A ‘Minumental’ debut at the Arts Factory

Oscar Goodman collects bobblehead versions of himself, but we’re pretty sure he’s never encountered a pipe-cleaner rendering. Until now. On Thursday night, the mayor cuts the ribbon on this year’s Minumental Invitational at Trifecta Gallery, which features work from 26 artists, including Weekly staff writer/pipe-cleaner manipulator Kristen Peterson, making her public debut. “I’m sort of the comic relief,” she laughs, severely undervaluing the six legit-as-fuck sculptures in her “Home Means Las Vegas” exhibit. But don’t take our word for it: See her “Pie Lady With Rifle” figurine up close and your worldview will forever be altered.

Trifecta Gallery

The fifth annual Minumental event, housed this year in Trifecta’s enlarged Arts Factory space, offers artists the chance to show 64-inch-squared creations—and the public an opportunity to purchase work by the likes of Jerry Misko, Casey Weldon and the Biscuit Street Preacher at unusually affordable prices. Other notable participants include Jennifer Kleven, Erin Stellmon, Mary Warner, Wendy Kveck and Todd VonBastiaans. And the Weekly’s own Kristen Peterson. Did we mention her already?
