It’s one thing to announce an Alice in Wonderland-themed event, it’s another to bring in giant mushrooms, a Queen of Hearts drag queen, a Mad Hatter Tea Party, a cabaret and mingling costumed characters, all signs the Center is diving head first down the rabbit hole with its art-based fashion extravaganza fundraiser known as Artrageous.

The nightlife-meets-Wonderland evening marks the return of Artrageous after its hiatus last year, taken while the Center settled into its new home on Maryland Parkway. It also celebrates the event’s return to the Center after being held elsewhere for three years.

Much of the 16,000-square-foot facility will be dedicated to art and performance, and Artrageous curator Brian “Paco” Alvarez says more than 100 works by artists in and outside of Las Vegas will be exhibited (including David Sanchez Burr, Matthew Couper and Miguel Rodriguez). The evening’s performance lineup includes the Las Vegas Contemporary Dance Theater, the cast of Cabaret at the Onyx and Jim “Norma Llyaman” McCoy as the Queen of Hearts.

Artrageous: Artists in Wonderland June 14, 5:30-10 p.m., $35 in advance, $40 at the door. The Center, 401 S. Maryland Parkway, artrageousvegas.org.
