Saturday, April 16 is the third annual Record Store Day—a day where music lovers are asked to take a break from downloading new releases to iTunes and show respect for the places once considered the center of a music lover’s solar system.

Across the country, record stores will feature exclusive vinyl and CD releases from the likes of The Flaming Lips, Mastodon and Phish (For full list, click here). Regionally, Zia Records Exchange will be releasing a two-CD compilation, You Heard Us Back When, Volume 5, featuring 33 songs from Phoenix-, Tucson- and Las Vegas-based bands. The cost is only $3, with proceeds donated to Alice Cooper’s Solid Rock foundation.

Zia Records’ Vegas locations will also be featuring live performances. At the Sahara location, Langston Graves is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. and Define Appropriate is scheduled for 6 p.m. Meanwhile, at the Eastern location, A Death to Stars will perform at 4 p.m., Tesco Vee of The Meatmen will host a book signing at 6 p.m. and The Lipstick Killas perform at 8 p.m.

If all that isn’t enough to get you out to Zia to celebrate Record Store Day… Well, we didn’t really want to run into you there, anyway.
