Diddy at Tao; Kaskade at Marquee

Sean “Diddy” Combs hosted a Super Bowl XLVI pre-party at Tao in the Venetian on Saturday night, a soiree that the music mogul dubbed Diddy Bowl.

Before his hosting duties, Diddy enjoyed curry scallops, coconut shrimp, sea bass and Ciroc peach in Tao’s private dining room. Olympic swimming champion Michael Phelps was taken to the private dining room to meet Diddy, who invited him to join him in the upstairs nightclub. Phelps accepted the invitation, and the group took over a dance-floor table next to the DJ booth.

Diddy grabbed the mic and hyped up partygoers while he jammed with DJ Eric D-Lux. Diddy made sure the hotspot knew that there were two Olympic champions in the house, as Apolo Ohno and Phelps partied by his side, and he encouraged everyone to drink Ciroc. Also in the group: Shawne Merriman of the Buffalo Bills.

Gorgeous “90210” actress Jessica Lowndes dined with friends at Tao on vegetarian menu items before heading to a skybox in the nightclub.

At sister nightspot Marquee in the Cosmopolitan, America’s Best DJ Kaskadeand Skylar Grey celebrated the upcoming release of their single “Room for Happiness,” with Grey performing the song and her single “Invisible.”

Wilmer Valderrama made a late-night stop at Marquee, heading to the downstairs Boom Box Room to continue celebrating his 32nd birthday with good friend DJ Fred Matters. Also spotted at Marquee: Joey Fatone, in town to host “The Price Is Right Live!,” and DJ A-Track.

Free agent quarterback Donovan McNabb and Marcedes Lewis of the Jacksonville Jaguars partied at separate tables in the Boom Box Room. Thanks to Al Powers of Powers Imagery for his photos from Tao and Brenton Ho of Powers Imagery for his photos from Marquee.

  • Wonderful Wonderful also has the confidence to be far more inventive than anything the band has released before.

  • Frontman Cory Hanson and drummer Evan Burrows served in Ty Segall’s backing band for last year’s Neon Reverb-capping performance.

  • After its work on a Grateful Dead covers album, the band has learned to stretch out and experiment with more gusto.
